FRUIT BODY: Up to 3cm in diameter. A purple jelly-like species very similar in appearance to A. sarcoides but with a more rounded to saucer-shaped apothecium. The upper surface is smooth, the lower finely granular. The margin is wavy. The whole fruiting structure is sessile or can have a rudimentary stem. GILLS/PORES: N/A. FLESH: Pinkish-purple, gelatinous and with no distinct taste. SPORES: Hyaline, smooth, ellipsoid and biseriate. HABITAT: Found on rotten trunks and logs with a fondness for Beech. SEASON: Autumn to Winter. EDIBILITY: Inedible. |
